I have loved you, your brother and sister from the minute you were all born. I will always remember when the 4 of us took our 2 week trip to grand canyon, tooziegoot, and london bridge. You are now in God's hands and Grampas arms.

The following is my speech I gave at the Super Special Saskia Show.. aka Celebration of life: Saskia Burke. Since I couldn't present it without choking on tears, you all could just read it here.
Saskia, They told me I had to say something at this memorial. I didn't know what to say... so I figured I tell them and you....what you mean to me.
What you are to me: Daughter, Soulmate, Best Friend, Business Partner and Teammate.
Daughter:
You made coming home the best part of the day. I can still hear you call out "Daddys Home!" and see you rush towards me, to hug me around my neck. Then beg me to flip you around like a carnival ride.
You played with toys that where too tiny for any other child your age. Such dainty and deft fingers. I called them vacuums toys, you called them "my little people".
When we would go shopping at micheals you would find on the floor the most wonderful and colorful trinkets. Things that had not been swept up yet and thrown away. You saved these treasures, in the many little boxes, scatter around your room.
You have given me so much affection through out your days, I know now why.
Soulmate:
I have heard people say "I want to marry my soulmate."
I'm fortunate to be blessed with one as my child.
I began to see it when you where little,
you made me reel back on my heels with your clever wit.
You made gold out of trash.
Crafting wonderful things with found items and colorful doodles.
I saw it your passionate desire to explore... and learn about the wilderness when we went camping.
I saw it in your imagination and creativity you demonstrated when playing Dungeon and Dragons. Which made the epic moments we experienced. I have recently discovered, you had written an in-depth history of your character that could fill a book. You inspired my creativity. The thousand of hours we spent together playing, exploring story line ideas and surprising each other will be cherished forever. It is so uncommon to ha...

The best legacy a person can leave is light, laughter and happiness. Saskia most certainly did that, and she touched the heart of a person who never even met her. God speed Saskia, and my sincerest condolences and hopes for happy memories to her family and all who loved her.

Saski,
Although I only knew you for a short time, you made my life a little brighter. Who would have though, you, would be the one to get a bunch of older men to learn hand signals by getting them to dance. Your zest for life will never be forgotten. I will miss having the chance to run around a paintball field without your presence and energy there. There will always be a spot in my heart where you will be felt.

Dear Saskia,
I have never once met you in my life. I go to school with your sister, but I have never got the chance to meet you. What can I say? Saskia you're beautiful. From what I've heard you were a wonderful girl (beyond that) and you will truly, TRULY be missed. I've seen a lot of unjust things in my time but I have never been more appalled as to what happened to you. You died far too young, far too soon. You left behind a plethora of adoring family and friends. My family is crushed as well by your loss, even if we never knew you. I hope you are watching over your family and friends and keeping them safe. I tear up every time I see a reference to you, anywhere. It pains my heart. Saskia, you are a legacy. I will forever remember you. You and your loved ones have a special place in my heart. The pain I feel for your family is unfathomable. To lose a child is the greatest pain known to humankind.
I'm sorry I never got to meet you. You are a girl whose memory emanates glory and love. I look up to you.
Rest in peace, sweet girl.

We've never met, but you seem to have touched so many lives in a good way. Hearing your story breaks my heart as a father of 3 girls. I pray that while you are looking down upon your family that they feel your smile.
I plan on attending your memorial game to pay my respects to your family and to honor you.

Burke Family -- You don't know me, but I am a neighbor a mile or so away. From the day I heard about the tragic event that rocked your lives and this city I have thought about your precious Saskia with a heavy heart. There are no words to take away the pain, but please know there are so many of us out there who wish there was something we could do to bring you comfort and peace. Saskia you were my sister i have known you for the 13 years i have been on this earth and everyday without you is like a lifetime of memories because thats all i can think about is what we did all the fun times, and the sad times , and the times we fought over the stupidest things that we laughed till our sides hurt , and I will forever remember those memories until the day i see you again and that moment i see you waiting for me at those peril gates i will be reunited with my favorite person in all my life ! i love you big sissy ! <3 forever and always ! <3

Saskia, As time go's by all of are hearts heal slowly, Although there is another empty spot in all of are hearts the days continue and as the days continue we come closer to meeting again, and when that day comes we will all rejoice together. I pray for you every night even though i know your ok, but i pray for your family and Conner's as well even though i know they will be ok because good bye isn't forever. MOMMA - SASKIA's mom stay strong your family still needs you and trust me from what i new Saskia to be she is strongly watching over you and keeping you going as of the rest of the family, and all her true loved one's... GOODBYE isn't forever just think of it as see you soon because i know i'll see you soon, however many more years or months or weeks possibly even days that god gives me I will live to the fullest cause you don't know how long you have but what i do know is that I'll have eternity with with you and all my other loved ones. Saskia, you're one of the sweetest, most genuine person I've ever known. We may not have been very close, but please know that not a day goes by where I don't stop and think of you, or say a prayer for you and your family. You ALWAYS put a smile on my face. I cant tell you how close to home this hits me with daughters of my own. From the momment I found out About YahYah I have not been able to go a day, an hour a minute without seeing her flash in my mind...even now as I write this I tear up thinking of the terrible lose this world and the Burke family is feeling. Yah Yah will always be missed and remembered even more as a beautiful and amazing young lady.
My heart and prayers go out to the Burke family....Carb.

From your extended paintball family, best wishes on your continued recovery and we share your heartbreak at your loss.
Once someone has passed, we tend to say really glowing things about them. But it's clear from reading these posts that Saskia was a really special person who brought a lot of fun into the world, and I'm incredibly sorry that she's gone.
Even though we might never actually meet, we're always here for you.

I've known the Burke family for over 20 years, spending a great deal of special time with them when they lived in Michigan. Though I did not get see Saskia grow up, I do remember her as a dear little girl. At this time of impossible grief I choose to remember the vivid light and beauty of Saskia - her spirit and the spirit of these wonderful people. All of my love.

This is one of thee HARDEST things I've ever had to deal with. . .the fact that my BEST friend of almost 12 year is gone. She is one of the most amazing,beautiful, weird, funny, and all together bad ass people I've ever come to know and love. Its amazing how I know she loved me more than I knew before and it just makes me feel a bit better about the situation. She and I have been through a lot together and never once did our friendship fade away. She taught me what true friendship is about and that's just not something everyone gets a chance to experience. . . No matter how real this situation is, It will forever seem unreal to me because its unrealistic to even begin to fathom that such a dynamic individual can be taken from the earth so easily. . .One minute shes there, and the next, shes gone forever. . .I just can't grasp that. She will always be my best friend and included in all of my decision making because she forever lives in my heart and therefore will always be a part of me. I love you Saskia <3 -The sex ;)lol
